For whom? This workshop is for those of you with some experience in throwing and who want to take your skills to the next level. You want to understand how complex shapes are built to create the perfect balance between tension and elegance. To participate in this workshop you should be quite comfortable centering and lifting a cylinder from 1 kg clay. The course is for adults (16+).

Workshop content: Over the days, José will give demonstrations and supervise as we explore and practice his throwing techniques. Under his guidance we will tackle advanced shapes such as long-necked vases and moon jars. In parallell with the throwing practice we will try different decoration techniques that are done on the wheel during different stages of drying.

There will be a maximum of 10 participants in the group and tutoring is in English. We work with stoneware clay.

What's included? All clay for practice is available and will be continuously reclaimed. Please note that there is no firing and glazing included in this workshop. You are welcome to keep your greenware pieces or have them bisque fired in our studio at an additional cost. We will determine this on site according to your wishes.

Each participant has their own workstation and throwing wheel. There are tools and aprons available for all, but you are of course welcome to bring your own toolbox if you wish. Lunches are included both days and there is coffee and tea available in the studio at all times.

Location: The workshop studio is located on Gamla Skolvägen 32 in Saltsjöbaden in Sweden. Bus/train station is "Saltsjöbadens station". Parking is available in the area, only a couple of hundred meters away. If you need accommodation we recommend the hotels Vår Gård or Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden which are both on walking distance.
